Javier Mariscal Garriris Mickey Mouse Chair for Akaba, 1987 | Postmodern Spanish Design | Black Leather & Chrome
An iconic “Garriris” chair, also known as the Mickey Mouse Chair, designed by Javier Mariscal for Akaba, Spain, in the late 1980s.
The playful postmodern design is characterised by its distinctive rounded ears, black leather upholstery and sculptural aluminium feet resembling oversized cartoon shoes. The chromed square-tube frame gives the chair a light, architectural appearance and creates a striking contrast with its humorous, character-like silhouette.
A rare and highly collectable piece of Spanish postmodern design that functions equally well as a dining chair, statement chair or sculptural design object.
The chair is in excellent vintage condition. The black leather is exceptionally well preserved and appears almost like new. The chrome-plated frame and all four sculptural feet are also in very good condition. The chair is complete, stable and ready for use. Please refer to the photographs for further details regarding its condition.
